How can I switch my Canada Revenue Agency direct deposit to my STACK account?
Together with the Government of Canada, we want to make it easier and faster for impacted Canadians to receive the new Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). To assist Canadians with this, STACK users will now be able to switch their CRA direct deposit to their STACK account by following the steps below.
- Visit account.getstack.ca from a web browser.
- Log in with your STACK email and password (we will log you out of the STACK mobile app for security purposes).
- Select Add Money from the sidebar.
- Choose the CRA Direct Deposit tab.
- Enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Provide consent and submit.
It’s that simple. Once registered, your STACK account details will be submitted to the CRA and processed on a nightly basis. From that point forward, when the Receiver General for Canada makes payments, the funds will be added directly to your STACK account where you will be able to take advantage of our no-fee services and offers from our merchants.
Note: To be applicable, you must provide consent to share data with CRA and to agree to have the Receiver General deposit money to your account. Completed registrations will be collected Monday to Friday up to 7:30 PM EST. If registration is received after this time, processing will occur the following business day. Overall processing time may take up to 2 business days.
What are the requirements to be eligible for this program?
You must have previously filed at least one personal income tax return or set up an account with the CRA.
Which payments will be affected by this switch?
- Canada emergency response benefit (CERB)
- Income tax refund
- Goods and services tax/Harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit
- Canada child benefit (CCB)
- Canada workers benefit (CWB)
- Ontario trillium benefit (OTB)
The account information above will replace any account information on file with CRA, and it will stay in effect until changed by you.
How will I know if I have successfully switched my CRA direct deposit to STACK?
Once we receive your completed registration, STACK will send your account information along with your SIN and consent to the CRA for processing. All notifications from that point on will be handled directly by the CRA through your preset communications preferences. In the event the switch was unsuccessful, the CRA will reach out to you directly.
Note: The name on your STACK account must match the name you have registered with CRA for the direct deposit to be processed. Failure to do so may result in a delay or failure in receiving payments, requiring you to contact the CRA directly.
Why are you collecting my Social Insurance Number (SIN)?
Personal information (including the SIN) is collected for the purposes of the administration or enforcement of the Income Tax Act and related programs and activities including administering tax, benefits, audit, compliance, and collection.
The information collected may be used or disclosed for purposes of other federal acts that provide for the imposition and collection of a tax or duty. It may also be disclosed to other federal, provincial, territorial or foreign government institutions to the extent authorized by law. Failure to provide this information may result in interest payable, penalties or other actions. Under the Privacy Act, individuals have the right to access their personal information, request correction, or file a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding the handling of the individual’s personal information. Refer to Personal Information Bank CRA PPU 005 on Info Source at canada.ca/cra-info-source.
Once your completed registration is sent to the CRA for processing, STACK will not retain your SIN for security purposes.
